Since our NHS trip got canceled, today is my last day blogging. I really didnt do anything new in Shari's room, I just continued to work on my paper. Monday I will finish my paper, print out my blog, organize my folder, and set up a meeting with Mr. Finley.

Today was my last day working with Mia and Macy. It was basically my last day working with Shari as well. I will be gone tomorrow for a NHS field trip, and next week is my last week. After today, I will begin finalizing my COS paper as well as my COS blog.

I just want to emphasize on how much this COS has taught me. It truly opened my eyes. I had NO idea what responsibilities teachers had behind classroom doors. I am truly thankful to Shari for letting me work with her on very important projects and letting me get the opportunity to experience all that she does. I also want to thank Mr. Finley for giving me this chance. I learned so much and I now have a huge advantage in my college major.

Today, the girls finished their site-words. Also, I sit in and listened on a phone call that Shari made. She had to call a lady from the ACT place and rescheduel Kopen Hull's ACT. After that, Shari let me work on my paper for Mr. Finley. In addition to wrapping up all of our activities, I will be finishing up this blog tomorrow.

It is crazy to think that I only have 3 more days of this COS and working with Mia and Macy. Next week I begin working on my folder and my paper for my meeting with Mr. Finley. I thought that last week was my last week with the girls, but it turns out we have 3 more days. Today I worked with them on their final site-word activites that Shari and I put together. Also, Shari is very relieved that MAPS testing is over, and almost all the kids are tested.

Today, I sat down and talked to Shari about what this experience has taught me. We also talked about what final activity we should create to test Mia and Macy's improvement in site words. We talked about possibly making up a "game" to quiz them, so that they are interested in participating. Also, Shari let me work on my COS paper for the end of the year review with Mr. Finley.

Today, we continued working with the MAPS testing. All under classmen will be taking these all week. I again helped Shari set up and close the programs for the students. Shari and I also talked about me sitting in on one more teacher/Mr. Finley meeting before the year is over, as well as sitting in on a flooding group today. Hopefully these both work out.

As the end of the year approaches, I'm begining to see major changes in Mia and Macy's ability to recognize the site-words. This week will be the last week we do these activities before their final "word quiz" at the end of the year. Also, today, there were MAPS testing, so I helped Shari set up and log into all the computer programs before the freshman and other students took MAPS. As a senior, I am so glad I no longer have to take MAPS.

ALSO!... In addition to working with the CSAP activities, I used some of Shari's hour to work on my final English paper. Shari read my paper and helped me revise it. She knows how much my writing means to me and I highly appreciate her helping me out with it.

Today, I helped Shari with some CSAP activities. I can't do too much, because most of the information is confidential, which I am not allowed to see. BUT... I am allowed to help Shari and the other teachers with organization, sharpening pencils, and making sure that every child is prepared to test. I have truly learned alot throughout this program, and I know it will benefit me in the future. Before working with these tests, even though it is not to the fullest extent, I had no idea this much preparation was invloved.

Today I only did site words with Mia because Macy was absent. Afterwards, I talked to Shari about other activities we can do with the girls for the next five weeks because after this week, they will both have completed all their site-words. We talked about doing a spelling contest or a quiz or something along those lines. We will finish up tomorrow and discuss it more next week.

Today, Shari and I continued working on grouping. The teachers were in the room again filling out CSAP book so I helped them stack and organize the books. In addition, I have been coming into Shari's room every day at 3:30 to help the middle schoolers with thier homework. I have been helping them with their math everyday so that they can raise their grades.

This week, we have been immensly working on bubbling the CSAP books. Although I am not allowed to actually look at the books and bubble them, I have been helping teachers such as Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Simmons with stacking and reorganizing the books after they bubble. I have also been helping Shari with grouping, as well as continuing the daily site-word activities with Mia and Macy. Both girls should be completed with all thier words by the end of next week sometime.

Shari and I have alot going on lately. Today, I helped her with grouping again, as well as looking a new organizer. She showed me a new chart that she uses to average the scores on. this way, it shows the ranges of the kids and makes it easier to accesss the scores. After this, we went down to the middle school math room and helped some of the kids with thier homework. Shari told me that these particular kids struggle with thier math and she helps them out when needed.

Due to all the events and counseling happening in our school, I have not done the site-word activities with Mia or Macy for wuite a while. So today I started this activity again. I also took off a little time from publications and took the opportunity to sit in on a flooding group towards the end of the day.

Today is the first day back after break. We decided to give Mia and Macy a day off, because elementary is still doing CSAPS. I used this hour to get caught up on my English presentation. Tomorrow we will hopefully begin grouping again, and I will probably sit in on one of the flooding groups at the end of this week.

Today is the last day I will be blogging before our spring break starts. I have been working very crucially with Mia and Macy, because I want to make sure they are advanced when it comes to the end of the year. In addition, Shari has let me speng alot of time in the elementary so that I have a chance to work with the kids. I also have been continuing with the flood-groups and hopefully I will get to sit in and experience one of those groups after break.

Today, I went down to the first grade, and helped Mrs. Hussey with the reading activity. I spent about 30 minutes helping the 1st graders spell out words and read. Then, I grabbed Mia and Macy, and did thier site-word activities.

Today, I got to spend the COS hour in the kindergarten. Shari wants me to be more involved with the elementary students, and today Laura Stromager was subbing in that class room, so I went down to help her. I did site-word activities with them and helped them read and study for AR reading tests.

Today, I worked with Mia and Macy again, like usual, then I continued working with flooding groups. This week, I organized more of the site-words, and Shari and I decided that since Macy has done such a good job and has made such progress, we would let her be finished with her site-words when she finished this group of cards. In doing this, we will still bring her in once ever two or three weeks to make sure her progress is still continuing and that she is still retaining the words.

Lately, I have been going alot of work with Mia and Macy, as well as groups for flooding. So Today, Shari let me go down into the elementary so I could get some more one-on-one "interaction" with the kids. First, I sat in on the first grade. They were taking a spelling quiz, so I couldn't do much work with them. Afterwords, I helped Mrs. Hussey grade the quizes. I also spent some time in Mrs. James' third grade. They were doing a vocabulary activity. Mrs. James would write a word on the board, and the kids would have to repeat that word. I enjoyed watching the children sound out each letter and recognize the word. It was good having a little change from the flooding groups that I do daily.

Today I worked with Mia and Macy, as well as discussing the site-words with Shari. We decided that after the girls have completed thier list of words, we are going to give them about 2-3 weeks off, then we are going to bring them back in, and see what they remember. We want to see what they process and how much of the information they have retained. After talking to Shari about this, I continued to work with the grouping data of the middle school kids

Well, I didn't get the privledge of sitting in on the PLC today, so I guess I'll have to wait for next weeks. I finihed grouping the data for flooding groups and also did the site-word activities with Mia and Macy. I then used the extra 15 min of the hour to finish up some homework from my absences.

Today I worked on grouping some of the flooding groups again, as well as working with Mia and Macy. I finished the third vocabulary list for Macy, and started on the third one for Mia. Sitting in on the PLC last week was very interesting to me. I realized that the teachers and Mr. Finley have a very important connection and they have questions to think about every week. I realized that they have a "purpose" for teaching the materials they teach. Hopefully I will be able to listen in on another PLC tomorrow.

Today I worked with "Grouping" kids for flooding, and I got to see what kids fell into which categories. Shari and I are discussing a time that I can sit in on one of the flooding hours within the elementary, that way I can actually see how it works. I have done alot of work with data and numbers but I have never actually been able to sit in on it. Hopefully we can get that arranged sometime this week. I also did the site-word activities with Mia and Macy again.

Today I did the site-word activities with Mia and Macy and then I got out the new list of vocabulary words. Macy is almost all the way through her list of new words so I figured I mise well start making new cards. I went through the list on the paper to see what words we need still and then I made the cards for both girls.

Due to my concussion, I missed all of last week, and was unable to blog. I came back today. I did the site words with Mia and Macy and then Shari let me catch up on some homework since I have missed so much school.

Today I worked with Mia and Macy on site words, and we decided to change things up a bit. Macy was flying through here words, so we decided to make more difficult site-cards. I went through about 45 minutues of "word searching" for new words that Macy has yet to study, and then I began making cards. I will continue making the cards again tomorrow, as well as working with Mia again.

I had my COS meeting with Mr. Finley last week. I think he was very impressed with the progress I have been making. We discussed some of the things that we would like to add to my COS program, but for the most part, I will continue doing what I have been doing with Shari. But in addition, Mr. Finley and Shari are going to try to get me into some flooding groups and let me sit in on a teachers meeting as well.

Today is our first day back from Christmas break so I have to have my COS meeting with Mr. Finley today and I am going to go into the office during Shari's hour to see if he is available.
